The Treasury

The Treasury is the Government’s lead economic and financial advisor. We provide advice to the Government on its overarching economic framework, its fiscal strategy and on achieving value for money from its investments. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders.

We offer interesting, diverse and stimulating work that addresses the big opportunities and complex challenges facing New Zealand. To help us achieve our vision, we developed our Living Standards Framework (LSF), as there is more to wellbeing than just a healthy economy. The LSF provides us with a shared understanding of what helps achieve higher living standards to support intergenerational wellbeing.

We are committed to diversify our thinking and to foster and harness greater diversity in the people who work for us. The potential of our diversity is brought to life through our adoption of inclusive ways of working and nurturing a culture of inclusion.

We have a range of personal health and wellbeing support benefits, such as vision care, health checks, flu injections, health insurance assistance, childcare allowance, employee assistance programme (EAP) and a fitness assistance contribution. Our staff also have the opportunity to be involved in social clubs, fitness activities and volunteer opportunities.

We also offer a supportive work environment, where flexible working is available to everyone and for every role. We’re committed to embracing new ways of working, with a future-focused workplace that provides each of us with the flexibility to work in a way that fits our role, personal style and current task. This may include flexibility of role, schedule, leave and work location.

Our focus here at the Treasury is to create a culture and capability shift so we are able to adapt to changing priorities, environments and focus, and have the ability to work anywhere, anytime to deliver our outcomes.
